About the University

Established in 1944, the university traces its origins to distinguished figures Lazarenko F.M., a renowned histologist and professor, Olifson L.E., a respected chemist and associate professor, and Silantyev A.K., an esteemed associate professor and surgeon. The inaugural director of the Institute was Fetisov N.V., a prominent surgeon-dentist.

Admission Process

Students, to secure their admission, must go through the following admission procedure: 

Step 1: Fill up the university’s admission form that is usually available on the official website of the university 

Step 2: Submit all the required documents with the application form 

Step 3: Wait for the admission letter from the university 

Step 4: After receiving the admission letter from the university, the student is required to contact the Russian embassy of his/her country of residence for a visa application 

Step 5: Clear all the dues including the tuition fee, cost of accommodation, and other charges 

Step 6: Make all the arrangements and travel to Russia 

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission to Orenburg State Medical University, applicants must have a good academic record. 

• The student should have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in science subjects from a recognized board 

• The student should have completed 17 years during the year of admission.

Note: Indian Students are required to qualify for NEET whereas international students are required to pass the university entrance examination to secure admission at Orenburg State Medical University. 

Amenities and Infrastructure

The university has highly experienced staff.  The total number of departments is 8 at Orenburg State Medical University which includes General Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive care, Clinical psychology, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing care, and the Department of Postgraduate Training for Specialists. OrSMU has its own research center and holds 350+ patents under its name. It also has libraries with an aggregate collection of more than 400,000 books.

Life at OrSMU

OrSMU offers an enriching experience to its students throughout their academic learning process. To facilitate international as well as local students, the university offers fully-furnished and maintained hostels well equipped with all the amenities. The hostels at OrSMU give a very homely feeling to the students who come from different places. 

In the year 2013, a sports club was inaugurated at the University. The prime aim of the university is organizing and improving the sports work for students, propagating healthy lifestyles, and upgrading sportsmanship among the students learning at the university. There are approximately 12 sports leagues such as aerobics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, track-and-field athletics, table tennis, lifting, skiing, chess, etc. in the club in which all the Indian students can actively participate.
