Perm State Medical University was founded in 1916 in Perm City, Russia. It is one of the leading and biggest medical universities in the Russian Federation. It was established as a medical faculty of Perm State University, in its early days, this faculty was a part of the faculty of physics and mathematics. With more than 500 employees, PSMU holds the largest number of inventions and utility models among all the medical institutions of the state. 

 

Perm State Medical University stands as a globally renowned institution, duly acknowledged by esteemed international organizations including the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), the Medical Council of Canada, the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and the National Medical Council (NMC), among others. In the year 2021, Forbes recognized Perm State Medical University as one of the top 10 medical universities in Russia, further affirming its esteemed status in the realm of medical education.

About the University 

Established in 1916, Perm State Medical Unversity is one of the leading universities in Russia imparting education of the highest quality. The university embarked on its journey as the medical faculty of Perm State University, which was initially a part of the physics and mathematics faculty. Later in 1917, it became an independent department of the medical faculty. 

 

In the year 1931, the institution underwent a significant transformation and was renamed the Perm Medical Institute. Subsequently, in 1994, the institute was again renamed to Perm State Medical Academy, a decision mandated by the State Committee of Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Furthermore, in 1997, the Perm State Medical Academy achieved the prestigious status of being a member of the European Association of Medical Schools in Europe.

 

Additionally, PSMU stands as a closely integrated entity with esteemed academic establishments under the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, alongside several other prominent international educational institutions located in Perm and across the Russian Federation.

 

Presently, the university hosts a diverse and vibrant student body, comprising thousands of individuals hailing from 21 different countries worldwide, all engaged in the pursuit of medical education. Admission Process 

Students seeking admission at PSMU must go through the following admission procedure: 

 

Step 1: Fill out the university’s admission form, which is usually available on the university’s official website. 

 

Step 2: Submit all the required documents with the admission form 

 

Step 3: Wait for the invitation letter from the university 

 

Step 4: After receiving the invitation letter from the university, the student must contact the Russian Embassy of his/her country of residence for a visa application 

 

Step 5: Make all the payments including the complete tuition fees for the first year, cost of accommodation, and other charges 

 

Step 6: Travel to Russia and you are all ready to join the university 

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to get admitted to the Perm State Medical University, students must meet the following criteria: 

  • A student must have scored a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12. 

  • A student should have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31 December in the admission year 

 

Note: Indian applicants are mandated to successfully clear the NEET exam, attaining a minimum percentile of 50th for the general/EWS category and 40th for the unreserved category. Additionally, international students are required to excel in the university's entrance examination to secure admission at Perm State Medical University.

Documents to be Submitted 

Prior to admission, students are required to submit the following documents: 

  1. Class 10 passing certificate and mark sheet 

  2. Class 12 passing certificate and mark sheet 

  3. Medical certificate with HIV reports 

  4. Valid identity proof 

  5. Copy of Passport 

  6. Passport-size photograph
