Altai State Medical University, one of the premier medical institutes in Russia, was established in 1954 with a faculty of 32 members and a mere 200 students. This distinguished institution offers a wide range of medical courses, catering not only to Russian students but also to international students. Presently, Altai State Medical University provides quality education to over 4,000 students annually. Altai State Medical University, formerly known as Altai State Medical Institute, Barnaul, Russia, was founded in the year 1954 with 32 faculty members. With unwavering experience in delivering quality medical education to aspiring doctors, ASMU has become one of the best universities in Russia. The university is well known for conducting high-quality research with a team of 25,000 doctors and pharmaceutics for the regional healthcare system. Since its inception, this prestigious institute has produced 30,000 graduates. Around 4,000 students appear for medical programs at the university annually from all over the world.
Altai State Medical University is also acknowledged by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Russian Federation. Academic Staffs
Since the inception of the Altai State Medical University, the ASMU has witnessed rapid growth owing to its quality education which is made possible only by its expert faculty members and teachers. The academic staff of the university has over 100 physicians and 350 science candidates, as well as three representative RAMS members, 25 eminent Russian surgeons, five prominent Russian scientists, and 10 remarkable college staff.
Admission Process
Students who aspire to pursue their medical studies at Altai State Medical Institutes must follow these steps to get admitted to the university.

Eligibility Criteria
To pursue higher education at Altai State Medical University, students are required to meet specific criteria. These include:

At least 50% marks to be secured in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12

Note: Indian students must qualify for NEET (50th percentile for general/EWS category and 40th percentile for reserved category). International students are required to qualify for the university’s entrance examination.
Amenities & Infrastructure
Being one of the oldest universities in the region, the Altai State Medical University is equipped with all the modern facilities required to conduct excellent research and training programs. To upgrade its research facilities, ASMU has also established a medical research and educational complex in collaboration with a Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It boasts great facilities and is well-equipped with 35 research laboratories. The university’s library has a great collection of over 330,000 copies of literature including various publications on medical dissertations, journals, and over 200 titles of periodic editions. To hone the professional skills of students, the university has its own clinic and training center, in addition, it indulges students in medical care of the patients under expert supervision.

ASMU students have the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Barnaul. Located at the confluence of the Barnaulka and Ob rivers, it is one of the largest city and administrative centers of Altai Krai, Russia.
