About the University

Established in February 1919, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (FinU) holds the distinction of being the oldest higher educational institution in Moscow. According to Forbes, in 2010, the university was ranked among the top five universities in Russia and ranked 140th in the World according to World QS ranking. Today the University ranks number 1 in the Job market by Forbes Russia. 

 

The University's evolution from a financial institute to a global scientific and educational complex is evident. Today, FinU stands as a leading international scientific and educational center. Its extensive partner network spans over 170 institutions across 65 countries. With over 25 programs holding international accreditations (ECBE, ACCA, ICAEW, IMA), FinU meets both national and global standards. Furthermore, the university aligns with ENQA standards, ensuring the highest quality education for aspiring professionals.

 

Currently, the educational and scientific structure of the FinU includes 9 faculties, which include: 28 educational and scientific departments; 4 scientific institutes; 17 educational and scientific centers; 14 laboratories; 14 departments, 11 of them basic. In addition, there are educational and scientific departments that are not part of the faculties, including 3 educational and scientific departments; 3 departments; Institute of Online Education; Institute of Abbreviated Programs; Institute of Advanced Training and Professional Training of Employees; 14 research institutes and centers; 2 colleges; lyceum; 5 institutes and 5 higher schools of additional education; Military Training Center. The branch network has 27 branches, including 12 branches implementing higher education programs; 5 branches implementing higher and secondary vocational education programs; 10 branches implementing secondary vocational education programs, 2 faculties and 55 departments as part of higher education branches.

 

Currently, the university hosts over 47,000 students pursuing diverse fields in Russia. Among them, 2,000 students hail from approximately 100 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The institution boasts a dedicated faculty comprising 1,124 members, with 627 instructors contributing to higher education programs and 497 instructors involved in post-secondary training programs. Additionally, 67 researchers are stationed in Moscow, while 9 researchers operate from the university branches.

 

The Financial University has innovated by creating the 3rd generation of federal state educational standards. These standards cater to economists specializing in Finance and Economics, Lending and Economics, Accounting and Audit, World Economy and International Business, Taxes and Taxation. Embracing modern education methodologies, the university actively incorporates new learning technologies. It adopts a competencies-based approach, integrating individual student learning paths into the teaching process, ensuring a progressive and tailored educational experience.

 

Presently, the University Library and Information Facility comprises 10 libraries in Moscow and 28 libraries in the University Branches across Russian regions. The collection boasts 955,757 non-e-format items, encompassing research materials, manuals, foreign language books, theses, periodicals, fiction, and rare economics books. The library is well-equipped with 356 PCs to enhance research and academic endeavors.

Admission Process

To secure a seat for higher education at the university, the students must go through the following steps for admission: 

 

Step 1: Fill up the admission form for the chosen course, available on the university’s website.

 

Step 2: Submit your application including the required documents

 

Step 3: Receive the admission/acceptance letter from the university.

 

Step 4: After receiving the application/invitation letter from the university, students must apply for a student visa to proceed with their studies in Russia. 

 

Step 5: Students are required to make the payment of their tuition fees and other dues.

Eligibility Criteria

For higher education in Russia at Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the students must fulfill the following criteria: 

  1. Students should have passed the 10+2 with an average of 50% marks in subjects including English, economics, political science, philosophy, science and technology, mathematics, finance, and business from a recognized board.

  2. Students must be 17 years of age in the year of admission to the university. 

 

Note: To secure admission at Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, students are required to clear the university’s specific entrance examination.
