Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is one of the 10 Russian federal universities holding a significant position in education and science in the Northwest Federal District. Established in 1967, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University traces its roots to Kaliningrad State Pedagogical University, founded in 1947. This university is named after the renowned philosopher Immanuel Kant.

About the University 

Established in 1967, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is one of the 10 leading federal universities in the Russian Federation. The history of IKBFU dates back to the establishment of the State Pedagogical Institute in Kaliningrad. Engineering and Technical Institute 

Engineering and Technical Institute is equipped with advanced and modern infrastructure including 14 technical and engineering laboratories. In addition, this institute has a separate scientific and educational center for mechanical engineering and shipbuilding. The infrastructure also includes an Aviation Center for training and retraining of specialists for the aviation sector with a real decommissioned Boeing 737 aircraft. 

Institute of Humanities 

The Institute of Humanities is one of the distinguished and the largest structural division of IKBFU. It offers training courses in 14 different fields and with more than 2,500 undergraduate or graduate students. This institute has an academic staff of around 250 teachers and researchers. This institute majorly focuses on the study of the civilizational dialogue between Russia and the West. 

Institute of Living Systems 

The chemical-biological institute trains students in natural sciences and provides immersive experiences to students in the world of chemistry, biology, biomedicine, biotechnology, and chemical technologies. This institute provides rigorous theoretical and practical training to its students in order to hone their professional skills. Institute of Living Systems strives to develop students’ skills by providing them with a conducive environment for research and innovations. The basis of this institute is project-based learning which involves interaction with potential employers and the implementation of real, not-educational topics, thus, making the training much more pragmatic. 

Institute of Education 

The Institute of Education trains students in psychology and foreign languages. At present, about 1,400 students are studying 23 different educational programs at this institute. Students receive comprehensive training specializing in primary school teaching, mathematics and computer science, preschool education, and foreign language. These programs are structured across three educational levels: undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate. 

Institute of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Information Technologies 

The Institute of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Information Technologies offers comprehensive research programs in the fields of radiophysics, fundamental and technical physics, information systems and technologies, infocommunication technologies and communication systems, and information security. This faculty implements full-fledged engineering and natural science training to develop professional competencies among their students. 

Institute of Economics, Management and Tourism 

This institute trains specialists in economics, management, and hospitality who have professional mobility to work in companies of national and international levels. They conduct training in the fields of enterprise management, organization management, marketing, sales management, financial planning and controlling, hotel businesses, and tourism. 

Medical Institute 

This institute stands as a prominent scientific and educational hub. The institute has theoretical and clinical departments equipped with modern facilities and technologies, it also has its own simulation clinic and anatomical theatre, as well as also operates a medical library. This premier institution cooperation with leading medical universities and institutions for academic exchanges, and also involves students and researchers in scientific and educational activities. 

Law Institute 

This institution trains students to be professional lawyers in international and European law, jurisprudence, civil law, and criminal justice. Admission Process

Students aspiring to study at IKBFU must understand the admission process thoroughly in order to get admitted to the university without any hurdles and difficulties. The admission procedure of this institution includes the following steps: 

 

Step 1: Fill up the admission form. The admission form is usually available online at the official website of the university. 

 

Step 2: Submit all the necessary documents such as educational certificates, passports, etc. 

 

Step 3: Wait for the university’s invitation letter 

 

Step 4: After receiving the letter from the university, the student must contact the Russian embassy of the country of his/her residence for visa application 

 

Step 5: Clear all the outstanding dues including the tuition fees and the cost of the accommodation 

 

Step 6 :Travel to Russia, and you are all set to join the university 

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to get admission to the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federation University, students must have to meet the following criteria: 

  1. The applicant must be above the age of 17 as of 31st December in the admission year

  2. Student must have passed 12 standards with at least a 50% score 

Note: All students are mandated to successfully pass the university's entrance examination to secure admission to the institution.

  2. Medical certificate with HIV report
