Faculties and Departments 

This university encompasses 6 faculties, these are: 

• Faculty of Medicine 

• Faculty of Pediatrics 

• Faculty of Preventive Medicine

Faculty of Medicine 

This faculty existed since the establishment of the university i.e. since 1919. Initially, the faculty of medicine was a part of the physics and mathematics faculty of Irkutsk State Medical Unversity, but, in 1920, it was separated and, a new faculty of general medicine was formed. 

At present, the faculty of medicine comprises 20 departments, led by 35 experienced professors and complemented by approximately 40 assistant professors. Together, they offer a wide array of courses, accommodating both full-time and part-time students, ensuring a comprehensive and accessible educational experience. This esteemed faculty trains specialists in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, clinical laboratories, neurology, neonatology, etc. 

Faculty of Pediatrics 

The faculty of pediatrics was founded in 1982, adopting a pragmatic approach to provide comprehensive training to their students to be pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, and neonatologists. 

The educational process at the faculty of pediatrics is carried out in accordance with the state standards and is based on general education, biomedical, and clinical disciplines. Moreover, the faculty of pediatrics also conducts various scientific programs in collaboration with the International Academy of Natural Sciences, the Russian Association of Prenatal Medicine, the Association of Pediatric Anaesthetists of Japan, and the universities of Grenoble and Connecticut. 

Faculty of Preventive Medicine 

The faculty of preventive medicine was established in the year 1930. But before 1992, this faculty was generally known as the Faculty of Sanitary and Hygiene. This leading faculty trains specialists to work as hygienists, epidemiologists, and bacteriologists. This training is being carried out by 14 highly skilled professionals.

In recent years, the esteemed faculty has diligently pursued research in a specialized domain, enabling a meticulous evaluation of the health status prevalent within the population. This focused exploration has provided invaluable insights, contributing significantly to the advancement of our understanding of the realm of public health.

Faculty of Stomatology/Dentistry 

Established in 1936, the faculty of stomatology/dentistry prepares students to work in various medical fields such as dentistry, providing further opportunities to work in dental clinics. In addition, the university offers compulsory internship programs to its students to provide hands-on clinical experience to hone their professional skills. 

The operational quality of higher education teaching staff provides qualified professional training delivered by the faculty. There are twelve professors and academics working at the dentistry faculty of Irkutsk State Medical University.  

Faculty of Pharmacy

The esteemed faculty of pharmacy has been established since the year 1941. Its curriculum offers extensive and comprehensive clinical training to its students, preparing them for various career opportunities such as pharmaceutical sales representatives as well as professional fields such as research, development, production, packaging, storage, transportation, quality control, and much more.

Faculty of Nursing 

The Faculty of Nursing was formed by the joint efforts of the Medical College and Higher Nursing Education Department of the Irkutsk State Medical College. Faculty of Nursing comprises 4 major departments: Theory of Practice of Nursing, Professional Disciplines, PHS, and Laboratory Diagnostics. The main aim of this faculty is to create qualified nursing personnel with professional competencies in the field of management and psycho-pedagogical activities. 

Admission Process 

To get admitted in the Irkutsk State Medical University, students have to go through the following admission procedure. 

Step 1 Fill up the admission form, which is usually available online. You can also apply through an authorized representative of their university. 

Step 2 Submit all the required documents with the application form 

Step 3 Wait for the invitation letter from the university 

Step 4 After receiving an electronic invitation letter from the university, the students are required to contact the Russian embassy of his/her country of residence for a visa application

Step 5 Clear all the outstanding due which generally include the tuition fees of the university, cost of accommodation, and other charges 

Step 6 Travel to Russia and you are ready to join the university

Eligibility Criteria 

To study in Irkutsk State Medical University, students must fulfill the following criteria:

• A minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English 

• The student should have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31 December in the year of admission 

Note: For Indian students, it is mandatory to qualify NEET exam whereas International students are required to pass the university’s entrance examination.
