Saint Petersburg State University is the oldest higher education institution in Russia established by the Decree of Peter the Great. About the University
Founded in 1724, the Saint Petersburg State University is the oldest educational institution in Russia established by the Decree of Peter the Great. During the Soviet Union, the Saint Petersburg State University was known as “Leningrad State University” named after Andrei Zhdanov, but later on, it was renamed to Saint Petersburg State University in 1992.
In 2023, the university was ranked #35 among the top 50 universities worldwide by the “Three Universities Mission Ranking” and as per the QS World Ranking, the university was ranked 242 worldwide in 2022.
The university boasts a diverse student body with over 25,000 currently pursuing their higher education including around 4,800 international students from all over the world getting trained by more than 3,000 expert and experienced faculty of the university.
The university is made up of the College of Physical Culture and Sports, the Academic Gymnasium, the Medical College, and 24 specialty faculties. It also includes an Economic Technology department. There are two main campuses for the university: one is located in Peterhof and the other on Vasilievsky Island.

Admission Process
Students who are considering Saint Petersburg State University are required to go through the following admission procedure:
Step 1: Fill out the admission form available on the official website of the university.
Step 2: Submit all the required documents with the application form.
Step 3: Wait for the invitation letter from the university.
Step 4: After receiving the application letter from the university, students must contact the Russian embassy of his/her country of residence for a visa application.
Step 5: Make all the payments including the complete tuition fee for the first year, accommodation charges, and other charges.
Step 6: Travel to Russia and join your classes.

In order to secure admission, students must fulfill the following criteria:
