About the University 

Founded in 1758, the First Moscow State Medical University (MSMU) stands as a pioneering institution, offering unparalleled medical education to students hailing from diverse corners of the globe. In its early years, MSMU was part of the medical faculty of Imperial Moscow University, signifying its foundational role in Russia's medical education landscape. Distinctively, it was the inaugural medical school in Russia to bear the esteemed name of I.M. Sechenova, renowned as the “Father of Russian Physiology,” underscoring its exclusive dedication to the field of medicine.

 

The institution became independent in 1930 and acquired the university status in the year 2010, acknowledging its academic excellence and institutional prowess.

 

As of 2023, MSMU proudly commemorates its 265th anniversary, a testament to its enduring legacy and commitment to medical education. In 2021, the university was ranked 651 among the top medical institutions in the world by the QS world rankings. In 2022, the university was ranked 983 in Best Global Universities by US News and World Report. Faculty of Medicine 

The Faculty of Medicine offers comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical training to its students in the field of general medicine so that students can contribute to society with their knowledge as clinicians, scientists, researchers, etc. This esteemed faculty provides several opportunities to master the most advanced knowledge and professional skills. 

 

Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers rigorous training to students in the domains of pharmacists, bioengineering and bioinformatics, biotechnology, and medical biological chemistry. The faculty offers a wide array of bachelor’s degree programs, specialty courses, as well as master’s degree programs. 

 

Faculty of Pediatrics 

The faculty offers a full-time six years degree program in the field of General Pediatrician. To provide hands-on clinical experience to its students, the faculty is equipped with the Federal Scientific Center for Children’s Health which offers holistic training with deep theoretical knowledge with a wide range of practical skills. 

 

Faculty of Preventive Medicine 

The Faculty of Preventive Medicine provides a range of full-time six-year courses to students in the fields of biochemistry, biophysics, general hygiene, and epidemiology. 

 

Faculty of Dentistry 

The Dentistry faculty comprises 39 departments providing extensive hands-on training to students. To enhance their professional expertise, the faculty boasts five dental outpatient departments and a 70-bed hospital at the University Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery. The educational process utilizes over fifty dental units equipped with intraoral video control cameras, along with 48 simulators and phantoms. 

 

Preparatory Department For International Applicants 

This faculty is responsible for training students in Russian as a foreign language, chemistry, biology, and physics. Further, it provides students with a deep understanding of applicants who can speak Russian for admission to higher educational institutions. 

 

Institute of Professional Education

The Institute of Professional Education is involved in training specialists in more than 50 medical profiles. This training includes theoretical training, acquaintance, with the latest achievements in medical science, and professional skills. 

 

Admission Process 

To get admission into the First Moscow State Medical University, the students should go through the following admission procedure: 

 

Step 1 Fill up the admission form on the university's official website 

 

Step 2 Submit all the required documents with the application form 

 

Step 3 Wait for the admission letter from the university 

 

Step 4 Once after receiving the invitation letter from the university, the student must contact the Russian embassy of his/her country of residence 

 

Step 5 Clear all the outstanding dues, including the complete tuition fee of the first year, cost of accommodation, and other charges 

 

Step 6 Travel to Russia, and you are all ready to join your classes 

 

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to secure admission to the Moscow State Medical University, students must meet the following requirements

 

Age Requirements: The student should have completed the age of 17 years as on or before 31 December in the admission year 

 

Educational Qualifications: The student must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from a recognized board 

 

Note: Indian Students are required to qualify for NEET to get admission into the MSMU, whereas, international students should clear the university’s entrance examination. 

 

Documents to be Submitted

Prior to admission, students are required to submit the following documents

  1. Class 10 passing certificate and mark sheet

  2. Class 12 passing certificate and mark sheet 

  3. Medical Certificate with HIV reports 

  4. Valid identity proof 

  5. Copy of passport 

  6. Passport size photographs
